Just Beam It

Online Tools Are Fun!

Like I’ve said before, I love online tools. You can play around with them, and they don’t clutter up your computer like stand-alone applications do. is one of my favorite online tools for file sharing. It’s simple, and just about anyone who can find Facebook can figure out how to use it.

Online Tools - Just Beam It

Like I Said, It’s Simple!

What you see above is all there is to it. Either “drag n’ drop” a file into the box, or click the green button and browse for the file you want to send. Once you’ve done that, Just Beam It will start doing it’s thing. When it’s ready, it will provide you with a link to send to the recipient of your file. Keep the page open, and wait for the status to show that your file has been downloaded. If you close the browser, you’ll terminate the sharing session and your buddy won’t get what you’re trying to send them.

That’s Cool But I Already Have Dropbox

I know, I know, we’ve got Dropbox and Google Drive and a million other file sharing services available. What I like about is that I can send a file (up to 2GB filesize) to anyone. They don’t need a Dropbox account. They don’t have to know how to do anything other than input a link into their browser and click on the green text to download the file you sent them. It’s not something that I use every day, but it’s really handy for sending “unclassified” information to people. Especially people who don’t normally use file sharing applications.

One thing to note is there is no authentication required for sending and receiving documents. So you probably don’t want to be sending sensitive documents via this method, but for everyday stuff it’s great!
